FuRyu announced they will release a brand new video game for the Cardfight!! Vanguard card games franchise, titled Cardfight!! Vanguard EX, in Fall 2019. Cardfight!! Vanguard EX will be coming in Japan for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. A first teaser trailer for the game was released as well.

Cardfight!! Vanguard EX will feature an original story with new characters. The game's protagonist is Izuru Shidou, a new original character designed by Cardfight's traditional character designer and franchise co-creator Akira Ito.

Characters from the currently airing 2018 Cardfight!! Vanguard (2018) anime reboot will be included as well, and the series' protagonist Aichi Sendou was shown as well.

Cardfight!! Vanguard EX will include a tutorial for newcomers to the card game, and veterans of the franchise will be able to enjoy it as well. The game will have postgame content once the story mode is finished.

Cardfight!! Vanguard EX will be following the same game rules as the Trading Card Game, and the "Imaginary Gift" mechanic will be present as well.

Cardfight Vanguard!! is a Trading Card Game launched by Bushiroad in 2010. It soon became a multimedia franchise with a first anime season starting in 2011 in Japan. Cardfight!! Vanguard had some pretty interesting plot developments in its anime adaptations, though I have yet to watch them all. One thing for sure is you shouldn't think of it as another random Yu-Gi-Oh clone as it's much more than that and has some pretty cool ideas. The anime ended in April 2018 with Cardfight!! Vanguard G: Z. However, it got rebooted starting May 2018 with a new timeline, with the Cardfight!! Vanguard (2018) anime currently airing.

As I'm writing this, Konami also announced a new Yugioh game on Switch just a few hours ago. I often say it's interesting to see how the Switch is inheriting Vita's position when it comes to sheltering niche genres like console ports of visual novels, and it's fun to see most card games too will be moving to Switch. Though, this new Cardfight!! Vanguard EX game will be on PlayStation 4 as well, and the previous Cardfight video games were on 3DS rather than Vita.

You can find below full artwork for Aichi and Izuru and the teaser trailer. While not as popular as Yugioh, Cardfight!! Vanguard is popular outside of Japan as well, and some seasons of the anime aired outside the Archipel. The Trading Card Game also has an official international version, so it's possible Cardfight!! Vanguard EX might get localized.

More information on Cardfight!! Vanguard EX will be published at a later date on the game's official Twitter.
