Those of you with a taste for pixelated violence delivered by vehicles will be delighted to hear that Carmageddon: Reincarnation reached its funding goal on Kickstarter today. The Kickstarter was aiming for $400,000, but as of this moment, it has earned $414,437 with ten days left to go.
What is Carmageddon: Reincarnation? To quote the developer himself,
…Max Damage is back! Carmageddon: Reincarnation is going to reintroduce the gaming world to the original freeform driving sensation, where pedestrians (and cows) equal points and your opponents are a bunch of crazies in a twisted mix of automotive killing machines. It’s the racing game where racing is for wimps.
The game is a remake of the 1997 Carmageddon, a game that was highly praised by critics. The founders of Carmageddon’s original production team, Stainless, have purchased all of the original rights and are by all accounts very serious about making this game a success. If you like the sound of Carmageddon: Reincarnation, head on over to the Kickstarter itself and check it out. Stainless is offering plenty of rewards for contributing, too, ranging from a copy of the game to partying with the staff itself.
