Carrion is one of the most anticipated indie titles of this year, and our distance from the game is now just a matter of hours. In order to celebrate the game's launch, Devolver Digital shared the launch trailer of the game just earlier today.

Developed by Phobia Game Studio and published by Devolver Digital, Carrion is a 2D horror experience that tries to reverse all the typical rules of the horror genre by allowing you to control a deadly antagonist instead of a helpless protagonist. Your mission in Carrion is to spread fear among all the humans that have stuck in an underground lab and turn them into a delicious meal for yourself.

Carrion will be available on Xbox One, Switch, and PC on July 23rd, and its latest trailer before launch is comic-esque cinematic that shows a glimpse of the overall story awaiting in the upcoming title from Devolver Digital. Personally, I think of Carrion as a cool gameplay-driven game rather than featuring a strong story-telling. That said, I'd love to get surprised by what the developers have up their sleeve that we still don't know about.

Of course, you are the monster in Carrion who will unleash its unknown power against humanity, but that doesn't mean there would be no challenges in your way. The gameplay seems to feature fast-paced attacking mechanics which allows you to shock your enemies and kill them before they attempt to show any reactions. Underestimating the enemies could be costly for you as they will defend themselves with loads of bullets and tons of explosives.

If you are an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, you can play Carrion for free as of tomorrow. For those who are interested in paying for this promising horror hit, it will cost you $19.99. Thus far, there's been no word on a possible PS4 version of the game.
