Netflix has recently released the first teaser trailer for its upcoming animated series based on the Castlevania video games. The trailer only lasts about 90 seconds -- 30 of which features a cool nostalgic intro -- and only gives us a quick glimpse into what to expect from the series. Luckily, we do receive a release date and now know that Castlevania will be arriving on Netflix on July 7.

The series is being written by Warren Ellis and will supposedly be based on Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. Frederator Studios, the animation team behind the project, has also assured fans that it will definitely be for mature audiences.

Castlevania was first announced in February of this year where Netflix gave the following description of the show:

Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself.

We also got our first look at the poster for the series a few months ago, which fans of Castlevania will definitely find nostalgic.

In other Netflix news, the streaming giant recently announced that an original series based upon The Witcher franchise is currently under production and will be arriving sometime in the future. It seems that turning notable gaming franchises into serialized television dramas is a new trend. That said, you won't find me complaining.

You can find the newly released teaser for Castlevania below if you want to check it out for yourself. As someone who doesn't watch a lot of TV, I cannot wait to sit down and binge this series come July 7.
