We’ve been waiting for this. After a few hints these past few days, like the game being rated on the Korean rating board, and later on appearing on the United States’ ESRB rating as well, Castlevania Requiem was officially announced by Konami Europe today, as a PS4 exclusive.
The game contains Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood. As both games are considered classics, defining games in the genres of Metroidvania and sidescrolling-action respectively, this might be a great opportunity for those, like me, who never had the occasion to play them yet. Or if you simply feel like diving in again. Especially with the recent hype with the announcement of the Castlevania franchise getting into Super Smash Bros Ultimate, including Richter, the hero of Rondo of Blood, as a playable character. Though one could say Konami’s move isn’t that smart as they could’ve at least put the game on Xbox One as well.
According to PlayStation Europe, the versions contained in Castlevania Requiem aren’t true remasters but emulations of the original games, with 4K/1080p upscaling, controller vibration, trophy support and different graphical options like high-resolution backgrounds or renderings.
Castlevania Requiem Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood will launch digitally-only on October 26th. Pre-orders have started too.
