Yesterday, it was announced that an animated Castlevania series would be making its way to Netflix later this year. Since then, one of the series producers has been excited to share a few details about the show.

Adi Shankar (producer of Dredd and The Grey) is one of the producers on the team creating the series. In an interview with Polygon, Shankar shared his outlook towards the project, and noted how it might compare to other shows with borrowed source material.

"If you look at Game of Thrones, each season was bigger than the last. The last season had that huge Jon Snow battle, which was like a scene from Lord of the Rings. I’d like to do something along those lines."

As far as what the show's focus would be, Shankar was tight-lipped about specifics, but he did share some detail about its production status.

"Casting is done and the show is going to be released this year. I really can’t comment and I don’t think fans of Castlevania are going to want to read spoilers for this show."

It seems we'll just have to wait a little longer to learn the show's exact plot, but Shankar did end by saying that he believes fans of the series will appreciate the level of maturity that will be presented, as well as its "authenticity" to the franchise.

Season 1, Part 1 of Castlevania is expected to be released on Netflix later in 2017, with a second season in the works for 2018.
