With next to no fanfare, Konami has released Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, the PS1 classic, onto mobile devices today. The game is among the best Metroidvanias ever created and now you can play it on the go for $3. There simply aren't many better deals out there. The launch also comes just a day before Castlevania: Season 3 debuts on Netflix, making this a smart, two-pronged marketing push from Konami.

This appears to be a port of the updated PS4 version of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The game comes complete with achievements and controller support. Suddenly having access to Symphony of the Night with a controller on my iPad is an incredibly exciting way to start a Wednesday. The game is also available in six languages, which is a welcome addition for fans around the world.

If you've never played Symphony of the Night before, I highly suggest you change that with this release. It is a genre-defining game that easily holds up to this day. I've been slowly replaying the game since finishing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night last year. It's kind of amazing how good SotN still is in 2020. Obviously, a few things in gaming have been smoothed out over the last 22 years, but SotN remains a must-play.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is now available on Android and iOS. You can also pick it up on Playstation as part of the Castlevania Requiem collection which pairs it with Rondo of Blood. Castlevania: Season 3 kicks off on Netflix tomorrow and early reports indicate it's going to be a doozy of a third season.
