In the last developer diary, developer The Gentlebros discussed why the team decided to make a game about cats. In the newest Cat Quest dev diary, we learn more about the design choices that went into the game.

Specifically in this dev diary, The Gentlebros detail how the character models were decided upon, both for the main character and for enemies. Also mentioned was how the gameplay was designed to account for quick play sessions so that players could achieve something even if playing in short bursts, even as little as 10-20 minutes. Of course, if you want to play for much longer, the game easily allows for that too, with its detailed quest system.

Cat Quest lets you embark on a journey to defeat a powerful and evil catlord. The evil Drakoth has kidnapped your sister, but even worse, he has thrown the fantasy world of Felingard into chaos. It will be up to you to face him as part of a once lost group of dragonslayers. Save your sister, vanquish the foul beast, take back your land.

Cat Quest will launch for Steam on August 8. It has also been announced for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, and is expected to release on those platforms sometime later this year. For more information on Cat Quest, you can check out the game’s Steam page or the developer’s website.
