Popular shoot 'em up developer Cave announced today that its first virtual reality game is in development, and it's something... quite different. The title is A.I Am Monster, and it'll be released in 2017.

While it retains the theme of destruction, it puts the players in the extremely large shoes of what appears to be a giant robot schoolgirl, wreaking havoc in Tokyo, and having to fend off the attacks of the Japanese Self-Defense Force. Basically, you're a cuter Godzilla.

You can crush skyscrapers by bitchslapping them, pick up tanks and throw them on the rest of the platoon, and even shoot massively destructive energy beams.

No platforms have been officially announced as of yet, but the first trailer shows the game tested on an HTC Vive, yet, it might come for other headsets as well. For the moment there is no precise information.

As you can see in the first trailer below, the goal of the game is to achieve the highest destruction score, which is measured in the form of monetary damaged inflicted to the city and its defenders.

I've seen weirder things, I guess. Not many, to be fair, but I swear I did.
