Major television network CBS announced The Gamers' Choice Awards, which is scheduled for December 9. The show is being created to celebrate eSports and gaming alike, with nominees encompassing eSports teams, streamers, and fan favorite games.

Quite a few celebrities were nominated as well, including Post Malone, Olivia Munn, Kenny Omega, and much more. There’s even an award for a favorite retro game character that includes nominees like...Bonk? Other categories include favorite video game character, best mobile game, favorite multiplayer game, gaming moments of the year, and a whole bunch more. This award show looks pretty interesting and is giving me some Spike TV Game Awards vibes with the inclusion of all these celebrity nominees. It remains to be seen as exactly what the tone is for this, but buckle up for what is sure to be quite a night either way. Personally, I'm now hoping Bonk takes retro character of the year award at The Gamers' Choice Awards.

In other gaming awards news, The Game Awards is on the horizon and the nominees are in. Many people are talking about the Game of the Year category which features big hitters like Red Dead Redemption 2, God of War, and indie darling Celeste.
