The latest Night City Wire event for Cyberpunk 2077 was all about the game's soundtrack and the real-world musicians that will be featured in it. For content creators though (and media outlets, including DualShockers) this ended up being a bit of a prickly subject. That is, until it was revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 would be coming with a content-creator friendly copyrighted music mode. Today, CD Projekt Red shared more details about the toggle-able option and how it works.

In a blog post today, CD Projket Red wrote that "The last thing we want is for you to run into any copyright issues. The 'Disable Copyrighted Music' toggle, available in the game's settings, will disable a small portion of in-game tracks, streaming of which could otherwise result in demonetization or takedowns of your videos or stream clips/VODs." Anyone looking to stream the game or otherwise make any content featuring it should absolutely make use of this mode.

It should be noted that this isn't the first time a game has included a content-creator friendly mode for music. The option has been in games for quite a while, and is currently present in other massive titles such as Fortnite, and Control. By no means is this mode a wholly original concept from CD Projekt Red. Rather, it's important right now due to the number of DMCA takedowns being filed against streamers on Twitch, forcing some content creators to delete all of their clips and VODs.

If the worst should happen and any content creators are DMCA'd while playing Cyberpunk 2077 due to the game's music, they should reach out to CD Projekt Red immediately. The company is already pledging to throw itself behind anyone that experiences legal troubles, writing "if you run into any problems of this nature despite having the toggle on, be sure to check with us at legal@cdprojektred.com. We will try our best to help you!"

Cyberpunk 2077 is due to release on December 10 for PC, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and the Xbox Series X / S.
