Coming off the critical acclaim and huge sales success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 2015, the series’ iconic protagonist monster hunter Geralt is sure to be a well-known name, and according to CD Projekt RED, we might see him step out of The Continent and into a whole new game franchise.
CD Projekt RED community lead Marcin Momot provided a cryptic tease on Twitter with the rhetorical question of “what if Geralt was going to step out of [The Witcher] for the very first time to make an appearance in one of the upcoming games later this year?”
Naturally, this sent fan speculation on Twitter running rampant, but the tweet nonetheless teases that we could likely be seeing Geralt appear in a non-Witcher-related game later this year. While it’s up for grabs as to which he might actually appear in, the most obvious candidate that fans have pointed to was the upcoming Soulcalibur VI, where it makes the most sense that Geralt may appear in the fighting title as the latest entry’s guest character.
Personally, I think that makes sense given that Geralt would be a great fit for the Soulcalibur universe, but there are plenty of other games I could see Geralt working well in if he makes a cameo/crossover. While it’s already been out for a while, I think many fans would be happy to see Geralt in Monster Hunter: World taking down monsters and eating a hearty meal afterward…but that might just be me.
