One thing that Pokémon games have always excelled at is the exclusivity of their creatures. They will often only be available for a short amount of time or via specific retailers making them rare and sought after by players. Of course, this is something that Pokémon Go creators Niantic are also well aware of, making Celebi exclusive to those who attended Pokémon Go Fest 2018 earlier this year. Luckily this mythical pokémon will be making another appearance in the game next week.

Niantic has announced that Celebi will be available worldwide from August 20 but will require a number of tasks to be completed in order to obtain it. The details are currently slim on what these challenges will involve, but they can be started once players have completed the third round of field research for Mew. If trainers have already caught a Celebi via Pokémon Go Fest 2018's activities then they will be rewarded with candy for completing the new set of challenges.

Along with Celebi's return, players will see an increase in Johto based pokémon. These will also feature their own field research challenges. In addition to there being a focus on Pokémon's second generation, there will be a free Celebi t-shirt available for trainers' customizable avatars and a bunch of purchasable Pokémon: HeartGold and Pokémon: SoulSilver themed items.

The phenomenally successful Pokémon Go is available now for iOS and Android.
