Yesterday, Polish developer CD Projekt Red celebrated the 10 year anniversary of its beloved RPG series, The Witcher. Today, it released an official wallpaper to adorn your computer and phone screens that accompanies that celebration. As you may know, the series based on the novel series The Witcher by polish author Andrzej Sapkowski debuted back in 2007 with the appropriate title of The Witcher. The release didn't manage to garner a large amount of attention in a year that saw many great new IP produced -- such as Uncharted, BioShock, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Crysis, Crackdown, and Portal -- but it did cultivate one of the most hardcore followings in the industry. This hardcore following, along with a more polished and ambitious sequel -- The Witcher 2: Assassin's of Kings -- helped catapult the series into substantially more limelight and even game of the year talk in 2011. The hardest of hardcore fanbase grew, and the series edged closer to the realm of mainstream. Then in 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt released, concluding the trilogy and the tale of Geralt. Further, it propelled the series to the front of the industry, a the third time was the charm for CD Projekt Red. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt went on to be the most decorated games of the year (in terms of game of the year and other prestigious awards), sold an impressive six million copies in six weeks, and is widely considered one of the best game's this generation (if not of all-time), as well as being bar-setting for the western RPG genre (a bar that is still set).As of March 30, 2017, the series has sold an impressive 25 million copies, and CD Projekt Red is now one of the most loved developers in the industry...all within 10 years. All of that being said, below you can find the aforementioned wallpaper -- which features the series' salient characters -- by following the instructions of the Tweet below:
