The final piece of additional content for Celeste is now available on all platforms—appropriately titled Farewell, Chapter 9 of the game features 100 new levels and 40 minutes of new music. This release is also close to the news of creator Matt Thorson and three of their collaborators creating a development studio called Extremely OK Games. The studio is a successor to Matt Makes Games, which also made TowerFall in addition to Celeste.Farewell is a full story chapter for the game, and Thorson promised "several brand new mechanics and items" and a "final goodbye" to the characters. To unlock Chapter 9, players simply have to finish Chapter 8, though the word "simply" implied that doing so will be easy (it never is with Celeste). In addition to all of the new levels, the soundtrack from Lena Raine is available on platforms like Apple and Amazon, while Spotify will receive the soundtrack at a later date.If you haven't played Celeste yet (you totally should), the game is on sale for $9.99 on the Nintendo eShop and Steam. The game is also available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Epic Games Store, where it was free for a limited time (you just missed it). With the game now complete, next up is the physical release from Limited Run Games. Extremely OK Games is currently working on a mystery title, while Lena Raine is continuing work scoring Chicory: A Colorful Tale. You can revisit our review of the game right here. Celeste Chapter 9: Farewell is now available for free.
