Century: Age of Ashes was one of many new games announced tonight at The Game Awards. The debut game from Playwing is a free-to-play multiplayer title that puts you in charge of a dragon for aerial combat. Century is set to kick off its early access period in February 2021 and looks like it could be some fun, fast-paced mayhem. Give the trailer a watch below.

When I first saw the trailer for Century: Age of Ashes, I was immediately reminded of that PS3 classic Lair. Hopefully, this game is a bit more fun to play than Factor 5's dragon-based game. Truthfully, it likely has more in common with The Falconeer. That game launched earlier this year to mixed reviews; however, it had some fun ideas that its small team could expand upon.

Century: Age of Ashes could be poised to do just that. Obviously, the games aren't one-for-one replicas, but they share that aerial combat DNA. Century lets you hop into battles ranging from 3v3 to 6v6v6. And each player will have their own choice of class. At launch, you'll only have three choices, but there are plans for more as the game moves through early access.

Of course, this being a free-to-play game, it looks like it will have a heavy focus on cosmetics. That's not, in itself, a bad thing; however, it's worth noting. If you're not a fan of games nickel-and-diming you for new content, maybe give this one a pass until we know more.

Century: Age of Ashes launches on PC in February 2021.
