Introduction to Katana Man

Katana Man is also known by the name Samurai Sword, but his real name is not yet known. Katana Man was the main antagonist of the Katana Man arc, and he remained a minor villain of the Control Devil arc. He is the second Fiend to be introduced in the series after Denji. He made his manga debut in chapter 23, while he was introduced in the anime adaptation in episode 8. In his human form, Katana Man is a tall man with sanpaku eyes and short black hair. He can usually be seen wearing a serious look on his face. In his Hybrid form, Katana Man grows a Katana on his forehead and each of his hands. He can be seen wearing a cap and a long coat. His face becomes skinless, thus losing all his facial features, and he also gains a metal-like pointed chin. His open jaw and long teeth also add to his terrifying look.

Till now, it is clear that Katana Man is a merciless killer who can go to any height to kill Denji. He even sacrificed the life of his own man to cut Denji in half. Although he might be brutal and disregard others, he loved his grandfather a lot -- despite knowing that his grandfather was the Yakuza boss and had killed several innocent people.

Why does Katana Man Want To Kill Denji?

Why Katana Man wants to kill Denji

Katana Man is the grandson of the Yakuza boss who made Denji pay off his father's debts after he died. But his grandfather was killed by Denji when the former tried to kill the latter as a part of the deal with the Zombie Devil in exchange for lending him its powers. Katana Man loved his grandfather, and he wanted to take his revenge on Denji, for which he also teamed up with Akane, who wanted Denji's heart. Denji also tries to explain to Katana Man that he killed his grandfather because he was a zombie, but the latter repudiates and resolves to take his revenge.

What Are The Powers And Abilities Of Katana Man?

Powers and abilities of Katana Man

Katana Man's strength multiplies several times after taking hybrid form. His Katanas are not just able to cut through humans but also through solid objects like walls and floors. He also cut the Fox Devil's flesh and the special uniform of the Devil Hunters using his katana. A similar improvement can also be noticed in his durability and speed.

During his fight with Denji, he uses his special technique to kill him called Sword-Draw Dash. He uses this ability by getting down on his knees and then moving at an immense speed which looks like teleportation. High speed added to Katana's deadly attack cuts off the enemies without them even noticing.

As a Hybrid, Katana Man is immortal. No matter if he is shot, chopped apart, or whatever injury he sustains, he can come back to life once his left hand is removed. After consuming blood, he can restore his health and regenerate his body.
