For those keeping track, Fire Emblem Fates has an interesting tiered-release plan. Like Pokemon and other landmark handheld series, Fates will be releasing three versions of the same game with varying difficulty and plot beats.
After Chapter 5, players are prompted to pick sides — choosing your birth kin (Hoshido) triggers the Birthright storyline while choosing your adopted parents (Nohr) activates the Conquest plot. The third option, rejecting both, will trigger the Revelations storyline which is available subsequently.
Thanks to Polygon, below is the 14 minutes of English footage right before making the decision. If you are in the slightest bit interested in the game, make sure to check it out and plan how you are going to play accordingly. And, as always, note that these videos are rife with spoilers, so proceed at your own risk.
Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright and Conquest (while already releasing in Japan) will be heading to North America February 19, 2016 and 2016 Worldwide exclusively for Nintendo 3DS. Fire Emblem: Revelations will release first in the Special Edition bundles, then publicly two weeks after the game’s launch.
