During the Letter from the Producer Live XI Broadcast aired today, Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida and Community Manager Toshio Murouchi showcased a whopping 21 minutes of live gameplay of the PS4 version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn both on Sony's new console and on the PS Vita via remote play.

The footage showcased included the new Extreme Mode battle against Titan, the area around Camp Bronze Lake, the camp of the Sylphs, Limsa Lominsa and more, and it looked really beautiful. Personally I didn't notice any difference compared with the PC version at highest settings.

The broadcast also revealed that the PS4 version will not require a PlayStation Plus subscription, that the touch pad of the DualShock 4 will be used like a mouse and that the rear touch pad of the PS Vita will replace the L2 and R2 buttons. Square Enix is also planning a collector's edition and would like to release a bundle with the console, even if that depends mostly on Sony.

You can check out the footage below. Remember that it's from a livestream, so there will be compression artifacts as the camera moves sharply, even if it's been recorded in 1080p, which is the same native resolution the game will have on Sony's new console.

The PS4 version of the game will enter its beta on February the 22nd and will be released in April.
