Capcom is taking a long time to release Deep Down, but they’re also working hard on its engine Panta Rhey, including effects that are definitely impressive.

The developer had a session at CEDEC 2014 in Tokyo, and the Japanese site 4gamer published a few of the videos and picture that were shown, showcasing a few of those advanced effects.

Pre-Integrated Skin Shading

Water Shader

Post-Production Effects

Detail layer

Hair Simulation

Voxel Cone Tracing for Indirect Lighting (the same tech as The Tomorrow Children) off and on

Screen Space Reflections off and on

One thing is for sure: with this kind of graphics Capcom might be taking its time, but if the gameplay is even remotely comparable, we’re in for a real treat.

We can only hope to hear a localization announcement some time down the line.
