We've been raving about The Messenger for quite some time here at DualShockers after seeing the upcoming indie platformer this year at both PAX East and E3. In fact, we loved what we saw of the Ninja Gaiden-inspired title so much that we even awarded it with our Best Indie Game award of E3 just this past week.

Now, Sabotage Studio and Devolver Digital have released a new gameplay video for The Messenger which shows off over ten minutes of the game in action. The opening minutes of the trailer introduces the tutorial which features some of the basic mechanics that players will use throughout the entirety of their journey while also revealing some story details.

After this, the video cuts to a stage further into the game where you can start to get a better idea of how these the mechanics will interact over the course of a full level. At certain moments in this video, you can also see the transitions that The Messenger sometimes makes between 8-bit and 16-bit graphics, which is one of the coolest parts of the experience. If you have yet to see anything about The Messenger yet, this trailer does a great job of highlighting what makes the game so unique. This is the trailer to check out if you've even remotely been interested in this game.

As always with these articles, you can find the full gameplay video for The Messenger at the bottom of the page. Currently, The Messenger doesn't have a specific release date, though it is planned to launch at some point this summer on both PC and Switch.
