Gearbox Software held a panel at PAX Australia this weekend discussing going inside the Texas based studio. During the panel, the panel of developers including CEO Randy Pitchford, discussed the work they have done on Homeworld Remastered, the careful and considerate HD remastering of the classic strategy games Homeworld and Homeworld 2.

You can watch the panel – courtesy of YouTuber PJthePlayer – that shows off the changes that had been made from the original cinematic to the new remastered version that includes new HD audio and visuals. Randy further discussed how Homeworld Remastered is very much a passion project for the studio, considering they are doing all the work and distribution without publisher support, to create a loving tribute to a series they care deeply about.

Afterwards, the panel then debuted several new screenshots showing off the new visual fidelity in the game and all the details that have gone into the game. You can check out several of those screenshots below, as well as the portion of the panel discussing Homeworld Remastered. The game is set to release in a few months, with a soft projection placing the game out somewhere around February 2015 or later.
