While you don’t have to play the first game to play Chivalry 2, it can put you at a disadvantage in learning the combat mechanics and figuring out what exactly works best for you. And of course, when playing against other players, they may or may not have more experience than you. It's a good thing that the game recently added half a million people to the player base. There's a variety of skill levels now.

Fear not as this list will aid you on your journey to being the best Chivalry 2 player you can be. It takes practice to master these tips and tricks so if you find yourself dying a lot, don’t let it get to you. As they say, practice makes perfect.

10 Make Sure To Kick/Push Enemies

Chivalry 2 Kicking Enemy

Kicking or pushing enemies that are blocking will break their block allowing you to punish them with an attack of your own. It is important to throw in one of your fastest swings as you don’t want to take up all your time winding it up. Your opponent has a small window to recover so take advantage of it.

It’s important to know that when you kick and push, you leave yourself open to doing so. Sometimes enemies like to fake out a block to try and outsmart you, so timing is everything. You’ll be a pro at figuring this out in no time at all.

9 Don't Be Afraid To Throw Your Weapon

Chivlary 2 Throwing Weapon

Throwing your weapon may sound ridiculous since you know, it’s your weapon. However, this is actually a pretty good strategy when you break it down. A lot of times during fights when the enemy you’re fighting is low on health, they’ll try to run away from you. Trust me, it happens often.

Throwing your weapon at their back when they’re low enough will kill them instantly if they’re low enough. You can also retrieve it from their body once they die, so it’s not like you’re completely out of a way to defend yourself either. It’s up to you to decide if throwing it is worth it or not.

8 Use Your Special Items

Chivalry 2 Teammates

Taking advantage of your special items is important as some of them can benefit you and your team or destroy your enemies. The special items that are present in the game are the Bandage Kit, Trumpet, Banner, and Oil Pot.

The Bandage Kit allows you to heal certain allies by throwing bandages at them, the trumpet can heal allies in your FOV, the banner boosts you and your allies' attack, and the oil pot is a firebomb. If they’re ready don’t forget to use them. You’re only hurting the team if you don’t.

7 Play In Third-Person Perspective

Chivalry 3rd Person

If you don’t care about having the most immersive experience, then you should play from the third-person perspective. Not only does it significantly help you combat-wise, but it gives you a view of anybody that may try to come in and ruin a 1v1 that you have going on.

It can also give you an advantage in using the right attacks on an enemy as you can see what’s coming easier. Knowing the surrounding landscape is extremely useful, and you should give the third-person mode a shot if you feel up for it.

6 Utilize Crouch-Dodging

Chivalry 2 Beheading

Crouch-dodging may sound confusing at first, but it's actually a pretty easy concept to understand. Whenever an enemy goes to attack you, instead of blocking the attack, try crouching under it instead. Most people try aiming for the head or your upper body, so they won’t expect you to duck under their attack.

It’s just as effective as blocking since you can punish your enemy by hitting them in their lower regions. However, it’s not recommended to do this against the same player that you've killed multiple times as they might catch on, making you easily predictable.

5 Stay With Your Team

Chivalry 2 Fighting For Life

Chivalry 2 is a team game that’s all about working together to take down your enemies. While 1v1 fights may occur, you shouldn’t run into every fight by yourself though. Whenever you spawn in, it’s important that you stay with your team, so you don’t charge into enemy lines by yourself. It’s just going to get you in a lot of trouble.

Plus staying with a team allows you to get heals and other boosts as well that can prove to be beneficial. The more you’re with your team, the longer you’ll find yourself staying alive.

4 Dodge Dodge Dodge

Chivalry 2 Throne Room Fight

Always staying quick on your toes can sometimes be better blocking as it can give you an opening to attack your enemy. Dodging is a feature that some new players don’t take advantage of or even know that it exists. Blocking alone won’t save you as not only does it drain your stamina with each hit, but some weapons can break it a lot faster leaving you vulnerable.

Weaving away from attacks can give you time to strategize and come up with a plan or give your teammates time to come help you when you’re low on health. It also gives you time to learn the opponent's attack pattern too.

3 Don't Be Afraid To Retreat

Knowing when to fold and walk away is something that may or may not be difficult for some as you can get caught up in fights. If you want to help out the team as much as you can, your survival means everything.

If you find yourself beat up, try to step back and take a breather. If you can’t do that, just defend as much as possible until backup comes. Dying a lot in Chivalry 2 can make you feel like you’re doing something wrong, especially when looking at your kill-to-death ratio. In reality, you just haven’t been making smart decisions.

2 Training Mode Is Your Best Friend

Chivalry 2 Training Mode

Practicing on the 1v1 bot map is amazing practice regardless if you’re a veteran player or new to Chivalry 2. There’s absolutely no shame in wanting to refresh your skills so don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. It allows you to practice your blocks, dodging, and so much more.

It also allows you to get a feel for the weapon types that are present in the game. Learning about feints and parries against the bot is also better than learning against a real player. The training mode provides the perfect opportunity to get better at the game.

1 Always Play The Objective

Chivalry 2 Battlefield

Just like in games such as Call Of Duty, a lot of teammates have trouble playing the objective. They might struggle to do it doesn't mean you should too. While there are team deathmatch modes within the game, there are also objective-based modes that require you to perform certain tasks like raiding a castle or breaking prisoners out of jail.

Getting kills is nice and all, but it doesn’t mean anything if you’re not playing the objective. If you don’t, you’re setting the team up for failure. So try to contain your bloodlust for the good of the team… please.
