Chivalry 2 Heading to Consoles With Full Crossplay
Heads will roll when Chivalry 2 launches on numerous platforms.
Yesterday, the IGN’s Summer of Gaming 2020 event started showing a bloody trailer for Chivalry 2, ripe with decapitations and screams of pain. It was announced that the game from Torn Banner Studios would be heading to consoles with crossplay enabled.
Chivalry was originally released in 2012 for PC and took cues from a Half-Life 2 mod known as Age of Chivalry. The game eventually found its way onto PS3 and Xbox 360 a couple of years later. In 2019, Chivalry 2 was announced at E3 and was revealed to be an Epic Games Store Exclusive for the first year of launch once it becomes available in 2020.
The trailer that was released yesterday shows off a bunch of new gameplay of the deadly combat players can expect to see. It was also specifically announcing that the game would be heading to both current generation consoles as well as next-gen and when it is available for all platforms, crossplay will be enabled.
If the trailer wasn’t enough for you, a gameplay trailer that shows 5 minutes of gameplay was shown, and it certainly looks like a good time. The video shows players storming a castle being defended by other players with the goal of destroying their trebuchets. There seems to be a lot of clashing of swords, arrows flying around, and fires that rage through the map. Check out the video below.
It seems as if Chivalry 2 is still intended to launch on the Epic Games Store for PC sometime this year, and then will later be available on other PC storefronts, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5 at a later date with full crossplay enabled for all platforms.
