Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon and Dippin' Dots Are the Combination I Never Knew I Wanted

Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy! for PS4 and Nintendo Switch is being promoted this month with the help of Dippin' Dots.

March 1, 2019

I’ve had my eye on Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy! ever since it was announced last year. While I haven’t played the previous game in this Final Fantasy sub-series, I do love the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games and have been charmed by this new title’s aesthetic. In February, we learned that it would be releasing on March 20. Today, Square Enix announced a surprising partnership with another company to promote Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy!: Dippin Dots.

For those of you who may not know, Dippin’ Dots sells a special kind of ice cream that is “flash frozen” into tiny beads. Personally, they are a favorite of mine to get at public outings or sports games. For this cross-promotion with Square Enix, four flavors have been renamed to fit jobs available in Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy!: White Mage’s Healing Vanilla, Scholar’s Book-ies ‘n Cream, Red Mage’s Sweet Strawberry Spell, and Dancer’s Banana Split.

This promotion is set to run from today until March 31 at “participating Dippin Dots’ locations”. The stores partaking in this promotion will also be holding lunch box and pin giveaways for those who visit the store. If you don’t want to leave the comfort of your own home, Square Enix and Dippin’ Dots are also holding a sweepstakes online. 10 runners-up will be getting “a Dippin’ Dots home delivery shipment, and a copy of the Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy! game,” while the 3 grand prize winners will be receiving a Nintendo Switch with the game and a lunch box.

While this is certainly an odd promotion, I’ll admit it is one I like and didn’t even know I wanted. To actually get a better idea of the game this is all centered around, you can check out Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy!’s latest trailer below. The game is poised to launch for both PS4 and Nintendo Switch on March 20.
