Doujin group 07th Expansion announced that both Umineko no Naku Koro ni Saku, and the new entry in the When They Cry series, Ciconia no Naku Koro ni, have been delayed by around a month. Both games were initially supposed to launch at Comiket 96 next August, but they will now release at the end of September 2019.

07th Expansion cofounder, artist, and scenarist Ryukishi 07th announced the delay in a Twitter thread. He explained that 07th Expansion is currently hard at work on Ciconia, but will need a bit more time seeing the game's size and the various systems that need to be adjusted. Meanwhile, the compilation of all Umineko episodes + a brand new one, Umineko Saku, is in its final phases of adjustments.

Lastly, Ryukishi 07th also spoke about Ciconia itself, mentioning it's a much more aggressive work than what he did in the past, to the point that he probably won't make such a game again. He mentioned how anxious he is about whether we will accept the game or not, but believes we will, and is doing his best to complete Ciconia.

Ciconia no Naku Koro ni was officially announced in November 2018 for PC. MangaGamer will be releasing Ciconia no Naku Koro ni in the west as Ciconia When They Cry, simultaneously with its Japanese release. The localization itself is handled by Witch Hunt, the same group who translated the Umineko games in English.

Ciconia is by far one of the games I'm looking forward to the most in 2019, so if you're on the same boat, you should definitely send supportive messages to 07th Expansion via Twitter.
