City of Heroes Turns Seven, More Than 40 Million Heroes and Villains

It’s hard to believe it, but City of Heroes has been around for seven long years today. The game first launched in 2004 and while many things have changed it’s still going very strong. This is kind of awkward for me to hear, as I graduated high school in 2004 and now I’m all of a sudden feeling a lot older. Thanks a lot City of Heroes. In all these years, players have earned over 15 billion experience points, which they earned by playing over 1,600 missions, 40+ task forces or raids, and over 375,000 user generated Architect missions. All of that would take a single player more than 3,900 days (over 10 years) to play it all. Here’s the game’s upcoming celebration calendar;

  • From April 28th to May 2nd, many booster packs and account services will be 50% off at the NCsoft store
  • Show off your dedication with the Vanguard pack, special Anniversary Badges and new Loyalty emotes
  • Take part in many epic battles throughout May to save Earth from the Praetorian army
  • Join the Paragon Studios team tonight, April 28th at 6PM Pacific / 9PM Eastern for a sneak peak at the next booster pack

Check out a pretty sweet infographic after the break, and keep your eyes peeled for more information on this game as I’m sure it’s far from dead.
