CityVille Claims 26m Users, Zynga Continues to Dominate

Zynga is the Justin Bieber of game developers. They clearly know what they’re doing and are very talented, and while it’s not something I care for, it’s also not marketed towards me. I can respect their talent and blatant business agenda, but that doesn’t mean I like it. Their latest game is CityVille, and knowing Zynga I’m sure you’ve already deduced that it’s a game where you run a city. Their titles are pretty straight forward like that.

The game went live on December 2nd and since that point has already logged over 26 million players. Like most games on Facebook, CityVille is free to play but offers the ability to purchase in-game currency using real money.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go start working on a game where you build and manage a shipping warehouse, tentatively titled WarehouseVille (patent pending).

John is what you might call something of a badass. When he's not writing about games or playing them, he's playing in the Kansas City band "Documentary" and drinking as many different beers as often as he can. He's a huge comic nerd in the best sense of the term, with a particular love for the Creator Owned movement.
