Last week Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that it has sold over 500 million PlayStation consoles since the glory years of the original PS1 (to be precise 525.3 million units, of which 81.2 million are PS4 consoles). While Sony is celebrating with a really beautiful limited edition PS4 Pro, the theme wizards at Truant Pixels decided to throw their own party.

They released a video of a working concept of a dynamic theme inspired by the original PlayStation, showing the veteran console in all its see-through glory. The theme is fully functional and has been recorded directly from one of Truant Pixel's PS4 devkits.

Unfortunately, it probably won't be released, as it would require Sony's permission. On top of that, it would be impossible to to present the Sony Computer Entertainment logo as is, since the company technically doesn't exist anymore.

That being said, we hear that the team would "jump at the chance" to release the theme officially if Sony offered it. Last year they launched a "Legacy Theme" paying homage to the PS2.

You can check it out below. If you want to see more of Truant Pixel's unofficial concept themes, you can check out the one they showcased for Death Stranding.
