During E3 2017, developer Boss Key Productions announced that its gravity defying and fast-paced first-person multiplayer FPS shooter is coming to PS4 and PC on August 8th, arriving at the price-point of $29.99 USD.

As you may know, Boss Key Productions was founded by legendary designer Cliff Bleszinski, who you may know as the creator of the Gears of War series. That being said, given his deep roots on the Xbox platform, many were surprised when he announced that in addition to PC, his new game, the aforementioned LawBreakers, was coming to the PS4, and not the Xbox One, though Bleszinski did say to not rule out an Xbox One version.

However, Bleszinski has never revealed why the game is coming to PS4 but -- at least initially -- skipping Xbox One. That is until today. Bleszinski had the following to say to IGN about why the game isn't launching on Microsoft's platform:

"Xbox fanboys got really salty at me on Twitter, like, ‘It’s like you’re turning your back on the box that built your career with Gears. And I’m like, not necessarily, because my first priority to me is my employees. I have 65 employees, many of whom have families, and I need to keep the lights on. When we looked at the fact that we could only ship on one console initially, PlayStation has the huge install base. That doesn’t mean that we can’t do an Xbox version later, or Xbox XOXO, or whatever they’re calling it these days. I wouldn't rule it out."

LawBreakers is set to have a closed beta on PC starting on June 28th for current keyholders. Then on June 30th, the beta will transition into an open beta form, and run util July 3rd. PS4 and PC signups are live here, though at the moment beta dates for the PS4 version have not been made clear.

Speaking about the beta Bleszinski said it won't be a "bullshit" beta, aka it will be a real, non-promotional beta, where the team takes the feedback and works to tighten the game up in the month before launch.

If you pre-order the game the game on PC you will receive the Assassinated Animated Account Portrait, Kitsune Honor-bound Skin, and the Hellion Sunflare Skin. Meanwhile, if you pre-order on PS4 you will get a free LawBreaker's static theme.

In addition to the standard edition, the game will also be available via a digital deluxe edition, that runs at $10 more. It includes: six exclusive character skins, "Hadronium Blue" Weapon Skins, Deadzo Weapon Stickers, and the Deadzo Account Portrait.
