Today Nippon Ichi Software Announced that its cinematic horror adventure Closed Nightmare for PS4 and Nintendo Switch will release in Japan on July 19th.

The story is about a lady named Maria Kamishiro who awakens in the darkness having lost all of her memories. Her left arm is paralyzed, and when the phone suddenly rings, a girl Chizuru tells him he is taking part in an experiment. She also mentions that she will be released if the experiment succeeds and then hangs up.

The game is set in a strange place with several rooms with strange and insane characters, evidence of occult rituals, and enigmas. A terrifying man wearing a mask is also wandering around as the player tries to discover the truth behind the experiment.

Gameplay is split between live action cinematic cutscenes, text-based descriptions, investigation parts, and puzzles.

The live action cutscenes are filmed in first-person to let the player experience the terror immersively. The text parts are written by Maria herself and include choices that affect the story. They can lead to bad ends, but it's possible to restart from each branch. The investigation sections let you search for clues to proceed in the story. Lastly, the puzzles challenge the players to use clues and overcome disgusting games in order to escape the experiment.
