Club Nintendo Going the Downloadable Bonus Route

By François Chang

November 27, 2009

I logged on to my Club Nintendo account and stumbled upon a new offer. For those of you who do not know, the Club Nintendo website offers a various amount of things for people who register codes that are inserted in first-party Nintendo games. Also, certain Wii/DS downloaded can be automatically registered when you have your Club Nintendo account attached to your systems. So, right now until April 30, 2010, people who have downloaded Pokémon Rumble and have linked their accounts to their Wiis will get a special bonus. The bonus? You get a special Charizard toy for the game via an e-mailed code. However, Nintendo sternly warns those interested in the offer to have their accounts and systems linked before downloading the title. Official instructions on this offer can be found by clicking here.

Is this a sign of things to come? Club Nintendo in Japan is constantly getting far better offers and goodies. Will we continue to get shafted here in the U.S. and even more so with downloadable offers? If that’s the case… there’s nothing I really can do except cry.
