CMON Harnesses the Power of Grayskull With Upcoming Masters of the Universe Board Game
The next major CMON project brings He-Man and all his friends to the analog space. Masters of the Universe: The Board Game comes to Kickstarter in 2021.
CMON is one of the most prolific board game publishers in the game. In just the first half of 2020, they’ve run massively successful Kickstarter campaigns for Marvel United and Ankh: Gods of Egypt. They’ve also announced a new partnership with the people behind Scooby-Doo. And now, the team has added yet another fan-favorite IP to the catalog. Sometime next year, CMON will run a Kickstarter campaign for Masters of the Universe: The Board Game.
We… have… the POWER! And we are also very proud to announce Masters of the Universe: The Board Game, based on the cultural phenomenon that transcends generations!https://t.co/IFZWR70xsF@MastersOfficial #MOTU #MastersOfTheUniverse #MOTUatHome #Eternia pic.twitter.com/UKlCEoU4JPAdvertisement

Truly, this seems like a match made in heaven. CMON Kickstarters are always jam-packed with high-quality miniatures. And given that Masters of the Universe was basically created to sell action figures, you know they have a ton of potential minis in the plans. We’ve seen how successful IDW was in pumping out tons of content for their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games. I would expect to see a similar number of characters tossed in here.
Of course, that doesn’t mean the game will only be a collection of minis. Regardless of the IP, CMON has shown a talent for creating mostly great board games. Details about the “new game system” are still light. However, we do know that the minds behind games like Bloodborne: The Board Game and A Song of Ice and Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game are taking over this design. Personally, I’ve yet to play either of those games. That said, I’ve heard good things about the Bloodborne game, so this one appears to be in good hands.
Masters of the Universe: The Board Game won’t launch on Kickstarter until 2021. Make sure to stay with DualShockers as we bring you all the latest in both digital and analog games.
