Since its first official reveal at E3 2013, details on the highly-anticipated (and long-awaited) Kingdom Hearts III have been few and far between, and with little indication of a firm release date it may be some time away: however, some new information was revealed on what kind of worlds we can expect to visit from the next Kingdom Hearts adventure.

Speaking in an interview with GameSpot, co-director Tai Yasue explained a bit more on the worlds and environments that players can expect from Kingdom Hearts III, the third official entry in the long-running action-RPG series that melds together the worlds of Disney and Final Fantasy.

Specifically, Yasue confirmed that that game will solely focus on environments based in the realm of Disney, as he explained "we're not adding any Final Fantasy worlds." Yasue added that "a lot of the original [to Kingdom Hearts] worlds [Hollow Bastion, Traverse Town, e.t.c.] had Final Fantasy characters in them," though explained that "at this moment, we are not really coming up with any plans for that, we're making original worlds and Disney worlds."

In the interview with GameSpot, Yasue also shared a few more details on the worlds that the team decides on and how they choose them, with the team opting for worlds that provide both diversity in visuals and that are iconic, but also provide distinct gameplay that suits each of them. Yasue explained that the team does look to feature worlds from Disney that players "recognize and are famous," but also looks for worlds that "are also distinct and unique...we don't want a lot of the same thing."

Kingdom Hearts III is currently in development for PS4 and Xbox One.
