Today, during a broadcast from ChinaJoy in Shanghai, the local arm of Sony Interactive Entertainment broadcasted quite a lot of gameplay of Rocket Punch Games' Hardcore Mecha which was previously known as Code: Hardcore.

The demo showcased four-player local multiplayer, which is somewhat of a rarity nowadays on PS4, allowing four players to fight it out on split-screen from the same couch.

Of course, we also get to take a new look at one of the game's strongest points, which is the awesome 2D mecha and lovely animation reminiscent of Super Robot Wars.

You can enjoy all the videos below. If you want to see more, you can also check out the new trailer from Sony's ChinaJoy press conference.

You should also read our interview with Director and Producer Louiky Mu, from when the project was still on Kickstarter and hadn't yet been picked for first-party support within the China Hero Project.

Incidentally, this is one to watch. Back at Tokyo Game Show 2016, it won our Best Indie Game and Best Platformer awards. The game will also be available on PC.

Update: we received word from the China Hero Project that Hardcore Mecha is now the official title of the game.
