Bandai Namco's vampiric action RPG Code Vein has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. On the game's Twitter, the account posts, "Dearest Revenants, we'd like to raise a glass of our finest blood to you. Thank you for making Code Vein a success!" It is paired with a picture of the Revenant and companion Mia Karnstein raising a glass for its sales achievement.

Personally, I found this pretty surprising considering the criticisms given to Code Vein. Despite that, it seems to have found an audience with its mix of anime art style and soulslike gameplay. At least, that's what I gather from the praise within the Twitter thread.

As mentioned, Code Vein is an action RPG by Bandai Namco that has a lot of similarities to the Dark Souls series in terms of gameplay. You create your own Revenant (basically, a vampire) and choose from a variety of weapons to use as you fight powerful enemies alongside an AI partner or in co-op multiplayer within an open post-apocalyptic world.

If you purchased the Code Vein Season Pass, that content has begun rolling out starting with its first piece of DLC called "Hellfire Knight." This new DLC includes a new side story, new items for your character, and a new environment. This is just the first of three planned DLC packs to come to the game. While a release date for the other two has yet to be announced, they are planned for an early 2020 release. Purchasing the Season Pass gives you access to all three DLC packs.

Code Vein is available right now for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. You can check out our review where Senior Staff Writer David Gill says the game "offers an experience that's a bit too similar to the FromSoftware games that established the genre."
