We're just two months out from the release of the hotly anticipated Code Vein. A recently released E3 interview between producer Keita Iizuka and Bandai Namco might be just the thing to get your hype gears turning if they aren't already.

Iizuka speaks on a few topics: the AI partner you'll fight alongside, co-op with other players, and the most challenging part of developing Code Vein.

Iizuka starts by crediting the implementation of the partner system to the game's difficulty. It's expected that players are going to die a lot. Your partner is intended to be a kind of shining light in the darkness--a reason to stay motivated and keep trying in the face of dying to the same thing over and over again. They'll provide buffs, healing, and aid in combat.

Co-op, like many other facets of Code Vein, inspires a Dark Souls comparison. According to Iizuka, co-op leaves the player whose game is joined in control. Having another player around can be a nice crutch in a particularly hard section, but ultimately you're the one who's making progress.

Lastly, he spoke of how balancing action and RPG elements was the primary focus of the team. You can watch the interview in its entirety right here.

Code Vein (hopefully) releases for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 27. A limited edition version called the Revenant Bundle can be pre-ordered exclusively from the Bandai Namco Store now. It's only available on PS4 and Xbox One. You can pre-order the standard version on Amazon.
