Cold Iron Brings Puzzle Shooting to VR Headsets on January 30
Catch & Release describes Cold Iron as a combination of Punch-Out!!, Stranger Things, and Westworld.
Developer Catch & Release (makers of mobile title Star Billions) announced its weird Western Cold Iron will be coming to a PlayStation VR headset in the very near future. A trailer was revealed showing a glimpse of gameplay.
Cold Iron is defined the “world’s first virtual reality puzzle shooter” where you’ll find yourself pit against a variety of foes like outlaws, sorcerers, and killing machines. Every enemy is meant to be distinct and each duel unique. Catch & Release describes the gameplay as an amalgamation of Cuphead‘s boss rush experience, the gunplay of Arizona Sunshine, Red Dead Redemption‘s western looks, and The Dark Tower‘s sense of mystery.
In Cold Iron, you will make a deal with the titular demonic revolver to avenge the death of your father and uncover the mystery behind the murder after he is gunned down by a group of outlaws. The narrative will be told — with voice acting — in small chunks as you travel to different worlds, collect in-game statues for rewards, and meet new characters.
Cold Iron will be available for PlayStation VR, Oculus Touch, and HTC Vive on January 30th, 2018. Here is aforementioned trailer as well as a few screenshots flaunting the game’s environments and enemies you will encounter:
