Colopl announced today Project Babel for iOS and Android, a brand new free-to-play JRPG, made by famous  Japanese developers.

Project Babel's story is set in a world with a mysterious giant tower. The main characters are a young boy named Rai and a young girl named Mairirja. Here's a translation of the game's story pitch found on the official site:

Someone said this city will disappear. But I always wanted to leave anyway. I want to go somewhere higher than the clouds, further than the sky. Somewhere no one has ever seen before. Because it feels as if someone's waiting for me there.

Project Babel's scenario is written by Kazushige Nojima, who directed Bahamut Lagoon. He was also one of the writers on Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X, X-2, and is one of the writers of the Kingdom Hearts series. The OST is by Hitoshi Sakimoto, who did Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen and Final Fantasy Tactics' OSTs. The concept art was handled by Inei and the trailer was produced by Koo-Ki. You can find below the concept art for Rai and Mairirja and the trailer, which shows some other characters as well.

Project Babel will include microtransactions. More details on the game will be revealed during the Colopl Fes 2018 event on December 15.
