German publishing outfit Kalypso Media and developer Raylight Games have announced that Commandos 3 - HD Remaster will be sneaking onto PC and consoles this September, with Xbox Game Pass subscribers (console and PC) getting access on day one.

In addition to the new solo remaster, Kalypso has also announced that it will be bundling Commandos 2 - HD Remaster and Commandos 3 - HD Remaster into the Commandos Double Pack, which will be available at retailers across the world later this year.

Commandos 3 - HD Remaster will feature similar upgrades to its predecessor. Expect revamped graphics, reworked character models, improved high-resolution textures, and refined controls for console game pads, as well as a reworked user interface for the PC edition. There are also some new gameplay features such as an improved tutorial, a brand new auto-save feature, and for those of us who can only make progress by scum saving, an all-new Rookie Mode.

Commandos 3 - HD Remaster has only been announced for PC and last-gen consoles, meaning there's no PS5/Xbox Series X|S specific version, unfortunately. Though, that being said, it's a remaster of a now-ancient game, so it's going to be a mind-melter anyway if you have fond memories of playing the original in 640x480 on a CRT. On that note, it's worth remembering that Kalypso and its newest Frankfurt-based studio are hard at work on an all-new next-gen Commandos game.

At the time of writing, there is no release date yet, just the promise that we'll be sneaking and sniping from September 2022. Expect a release date announcement closer to release, as well as more trailers. For now, we've got the initial announcement trailer that gives us a look at what's new and improved.
