Earlier this week, we learned the surprising fact that the PS4 version of Conan Exiles actually topped the Media Create charts in Japan, which isn't something many expected for sure.

Apparently, there is more to that feat. Media Create released their weekly analysis, and the firm revealed that the game sold a whopping 96.4% of its initial shipment, which is a pretty crazy percentage for a western title.

Media Create mentions that the game would have probably sold even more if it wasn't sold out at many retailers. According to the firm, the game was embraced by those who enjoy games with a high degree of freedom like Minecraft or Grand Theft Auto V, which have both been very successful in Japan.

Conan Exiles indeed mixes elements that can be found in both games, with a complex building system that lets you create some rather extreme bases, and a vast open world to explore. The fact that it features very adult themes including nudity, probably also helped in giving it additional appeal in the country.

Conan Exiles is currently available Worldwide for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
