San Mateo-Based team PixelOpus is the smallest among Sony’s first party studios, counting only fourteen developers. Yet, its upcoming third-person action-adventure Concrete Genie charmed many since its announcement at Paris Games Week.
As part of Sony’s own coverage of PlayStation Experience from Anaheim, the developer showcased about ten minutes of lovely gameplay.
We get to see the original creative tools included in the game as they transform the walls of a drab city into gardens and forests, giving life to cute and colorful creatures that have their own AI and follow the protagonist around.
We also hear that for now, the team is focusing on showing the creative aspects of the game, but the focus will shift to the adventure mechanics next year.
The game’s story features bullying as a central theme, with other kids of the town giving trouble to protagonist Ash and chasing him around.
Concrete Genie will release exclusively for PS4 in 2018.
