Within the past week or so, the Nintendo 3DS, and Playstation 3 have both recieved pretty hefty price cuts from Nintendo and Sony respectibly. This is particuarly true in in the case of the 3DS, which took a massive price cut and is now purchaseble for only $180.

As a result, games retailers, most prominently Gamestop, have reported that there has been "signifigant acceleration" in the sales of both consoles. This is in contrast to previous sales records, which showed the sale of consoles and hanhelds on the decline.
