The April Fool's Day jokes from the gaming industry are some of my favorites across the board. Remedy Entertainment showed off a very cool version of their game with their Control April Fool's joke.

Control is one of my favorite games from the past few years, mixing solid third-person shooter combat with a story full of intrigue and, at times, existential dread.

As Remedy Entertainment gears up to work on whatever comes next, they're still supporting Control with the excellent Control: Ultimate Edition available on just about anything with a screen.

They've also been working on this incredible-looking version of the game for the original PlayStation. Here's what you need to know about the Control April Fools prank.

Control PS1 April Fools Prank

Unfortunately, the PS1 version of Control is just a prank. However, that doesn't mean that I don't desperately want to play it. It looks like an incredible throwback to early 3D gaming that I can absolutely get behind. Take a look at the footage right here:

From the grainy textures to the 90s soundtrack, this is awesome. It really looks like what the game might be like if it did come out in 1996. Obviously, it's far more advanced than games were at the time even with its low polygon assets, but it's still a fun throwback.

I appreciate that they even included what the bugs that plagued the game on last generation consoles might look like if it was ported way back to a PS1. A floating gun and confused enemy A.I. really makes the whole thing.
