If you had told anyone that "Crab Rave" -- the April Fool's crab music video gone viral -- would have inspired a video game over a year later, disbelief would be the least of your worries. But here we are, with Crab Champions being solo developed by the same creator and on the horizon for release. And it looks fantastic so far:

This is updated gameplay footage from the original trailer. According to the creator Noisestorm, Crab Champions features "a legendary crab tournament, an original crabby soundtrack and ultimate crab parkour." As a bonus, thanks to a question from a Twitter user, we found out the developer is gunning for a $9 price point with free after-launch updates:

Check out the original trailer, which was released back in April, for the game if you missed it the first time. You can also stay updated through the official Crab Champion Twitter account and keep track of future progress:

While not Crab Champions related, there was some crabby news that debuted earlier this year -- coincidentally also back in April. After tournament player Hungrybox won a Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament at Sunday at Pound 2019, a spectator threw a raw crab at him.

Following his loss in winners to Cloud 9’s Mang0, Hungrybox made his way through the loser’s bracket to play Mang0 again. He ended up resetting the bracket and then winning Grand Finals. After shaking hands with Mang0 he noticed something fly past him and then lifts up a dead crab from the floor for everyone to see.
