Today, 20th Century Fox announced that its iconic movie franchise Planet of the Apes would receive a virtual reality game in the form of Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR.

According to the company, Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR will cost $14.99 and launch for the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and PlayStation 4 via PSVR on April 3. Set in-between the films Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR will allow players experience the world of the franchise's reboot universe from the perspective of an ape who is being held captive by humans and must escape from their research facility.

In addition to being the first VR game for the Planet of the Apes franchise, Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR will also be the first virtual reality game developed by Foxnext VR Studio, a subsidiary of 20th Century Fox’s Foxnext digital content division dedicated to creating virtual reality games.

Of course, 20th Century Fox is no stranger to virtual reality games, the company has explored various projects in promoting its franchises with its first jump into VR in 2016 with The Martian VR Experience
