The official Kingdom Hearts twitter account published today a new message from Director Tetsuya Nomura. The message states that the free DLC update adding Critical Mode to Kingdom Hearts 3 will be available on April 23 PT.

The message also states that Kingdom Hearts 3's Critical Mode will be different from the Critical Modes featured until now in the series. Co-director Tai Yasue already stated a few days ago that KH3's Critical Mode will include many differences with other difficulty modes, like new abilities.

Tetsuya Nomura also spoke about Critical Mode himself in a past interview we've covered, and how they changed so many things they had to debug the game again. He also revealed in the same interview that Kingdom Hearts 3 will be receiving a huge story DLC by the end of 2019. You can read more about it here.

Many fans thought Kingdom Hearts 3's biggest weaknesses were the story pacing and the fact that the battles were too easy and slightly boring even in the highest difficulty available at launch, so the Critical Mode update is highly anticipated.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One. You can read our spoiler-free review here.

Kingdom Hearts 3 will also be among the games featured during Summer Games Done Quick 2019 from June 22 to June 30.
