Dume Arts, developer behind an upcoming Action-RPG Crumbling World has announced that players will be able to jump into the game once it's released in May 2020. However, those who are eager to jump in will be able to try the open beta that's publicly available.

Crumbling World is a game in which the player navigates through 5 procedurally generated regions that are literally crumbling to pieces. The player is tasked with the challenge to bring light back to the world that's now consumed by darkness. Player's also find themselves running around 25 levels as one of the 7 characters available to choose from which covers 5 different classes.

There are over 40 types of enemies, including bosses to overcome through the use of hack and slashing through real-time combat. For those who want things more challenging, or a touch easier, the game comes with three difficulty levels and allows players to customize their character with various skills and upgrades.

The open beta serves as a demo in which players can try out a number of procedurally generated opening stages. They'll be able to try Mathos with the Knight class. The beta will give players an insight into the crumbling world mechanic which finds the ground falling away, forcing the player to continue on a path they may not have wanted to take. Dume Arts says that players will need to plan their steps otherwise falling through the ground will send them into the Underworld that lies beneath their feet.

If players want to download the beta there are three places to do so. Steam has the demo available for download, there's also a download available through GameJolt, and finally, Itch.io has .exe files available. Of course, the beta is just a demo of what players can expect when the game launches fully. When it does, there will be a full story to progress through as well as the above information regarding characters and classes.

Crumbling World is due to launch on PC through Steam on May 21, 2020.
