Crytek announced that the CryENGINE 3 will be seen in 3D for the first time at this year’s Game Developers Conference March 9 – 13, 2010.  Crytek’s latest development solution introduces the “LiveCreate” feature, to the extremely exalted engine, will enable designers to work within a single editor and see the results of their work in real-time on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.  Read more for why the latest version of CryENGINE 3 will be a serious addition to the game development world and why I’m dying to attend GDC now.

Crytek’s Crysis and Crysis: Warhead have  been massive advancements for PC gamers and the games industry in general.  Many gamers were unable to experience these titles since they are only on PC.  These games are best known for their high (maximum) system requirements being used to produce some of the most amazing graphics ever seen.

With CryENGINE 3 Crytek changed that.  At last years’ GDC we were shown the fastest and most robust rendering tool in the world, and its scalability extends to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this time around!  That means soon console gamers will be able to experience the innovative technology in upcoming games!

This tool will not only enable the highest tech to be usable on the PS3 and Xbox, but will also make it easier for developers to create extremely high quality multi-platform games while becoming forward compatible with 3D HD!  This is a tool so versatile it is even being used for other industries such as architecture, education, and in simulations for various real-life applications!

I personally will be making arrangements for the fine print of selling my soul to the devil this year to try and attend this event!  I am also impatiently waiting for the first next-gen console games to release in 3D HD using the CryENGINE 3 development tool.
