Cult Hit Abe's Oddysee Getting HD Remake

If someone asked me which PSone game I thought would soon be getting an HD remake, I can honestly say that it would not have been Abe’s Oddysee, which first pleased critics more than thirteen years ago. That said, it’s a good thing nobody asked me, because an HD version of the first Oddworld game is indeed in the works.

Series creator Lorne Lanning confirmed this remake, saying:

Abe HD is going into production. It’s basically Abe’s Oddysee being redone in a 3D physics engine as a 2D side-scrolling platformer. So the way Just Add Water wants to approach it, we thought was very smart; they are not trying to reinvent any wheels. It’s like, ‘Can we make that experience in a new engine, with new tech, in the old way?’”

Few details are available on the title, aside from the fact the fact that it will be handled by developer Just Add Water. Series fans should be kept happy by the upcoming  remake of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wraith, which is currently PS3 exclusive and drops this spring.
